We’re people partnership for the new generation of leaders

Hi, I’m Serg!

I’ve spent over twenty years leading People functions and programs across industries and environments. Whether it’s in finance, health, technology, or education — at scrappy startups, big firms, or large global corporations — I’ve seen how the tenets (and impact) of good management remain the same. I’m now on a mission to develop the new generation of managers.

I created Learning Serg with the mission to develop the new generation of managers to effectively lead businesses and workforces into a better future.

Bad management is the root cause of disengaged workforces, bungled business growth, and struggling company operations that inflates cost and increases risk. We all know this form research, common knowledge, and personal experience.

Like most, I’ve been through the cycle of ‘excited > committed > disillusioned > disconnected.’ I’ve watched colleagues, teams, and entire workforces go through it. Over time, the cycles get shorter and work becomes more unfulfilling much faster.

Why aren’t more people fulfilled at work? Why do businesses start strong and then flail?
Bad management.

Those managers eventually become executives, having never learned what it really means to be a good manager. Most were left to figure it out on their own, or fed bureaucratic corporate bullshit at some point in their career. Both insufficient tactics considering that management is actually quite hard. So, unless you’ve lucked into a natural tendency for key skills (or a great mentor), being a manager can be draining and unrewarding.

Under ineffective executives, businesses see their operations, then growth, and eventually sustainability, all put at risk. This fuels the desperate, toxic management that’s now the norm and put us in a state of perpetual contentiousness between business and employees. And most managers are stuck in the middle, which really sucks. And the cycle of bad management continues.

The future of work is at an inflection point.

The new generation of startups has an incredible opportunity to redefine management, establish new work norms, fix employer/employee dynamics, and ensure sustainable business success with a modern and engaged workforce.

Learning Serg is people partnership for a new generation of managers committed to building the new generation of startups.
